Around this time of year a lot of us ladies are stepping up our fitness game. And hopefully we’ll be able to keep it up throughout the year. As women, we have to deal with an extra challenge that guys don’t have to, namely, the girls. There’s nothing worse than wearing an ill fitting, non-supportive sports bra during an intense workout. So in an effort to contribute to the wellness of our sex, here’s a list of some of the best sports bras compiled from the opinions of myself and several girlfriends.
This is one of my current favorites. First off, it’s very comfortable, and if you have a bigger cup size, it really keeps the ladies under control during a tougher workout. The straps are adjustable from the front side, so it’s easy to get a really good fit. Plus, there’s extra padding at the center of the cups, so you don’t have to worry about headlights.
This bra (at least the brand) came recommended by Nicky, a long distance runner. A lot of her friends that have larger chests swear by Moving Comfort. And this particular bra has a lot of high praise sung about it, especially for runners that are a C cup or higher. This is a trusted brand in the world of women’s workout clothing.
And Reebok is the brand the Nicky trusts. The girl can run, like marathon run, so comfort is key. Reebok’s Hero Racer Bra is well reviewed, and the print on the above bra is super fun!
I just invested (it was $50) in this sports bra from Victoria’s Secret. It’s comfortable, and adds a lot of shape for the compression it provides. Plus, there’s no underwire to deal with.
Alo is an LA based company dedicated to yoga wear that works with the toughest yoga workouts. My friend Amy loves this brand and highly recommends them. They’re a little on the pricey side, but no more so than Victoria’s Secret. They have some great fabric and color combinations, like this bra that’s currently on sale. And just because this is a yoga company doesn’t mean they don’t make bras that can multitask and handle bouncier workouts.
Friend and trainer Kelly likes Nike bras. I think it’s safe to say that Nike knows what they are doing, they’ve been in the sports gear business for quite a while. This classic style sports bra is perfect for higher impact workouts. It runs a little tight, but it holds everything in place. This one is going to be better for C cups or under.
Another option from Moving Comfort I included because of the great reviews on Nordstrom’s site. It’s only available in black through Nordstrom, and on Amazon all colors aside from black and white are sold out, so it must be a popular bra! Good for bigger chests, or workouts with A LOT of movement.
Now Jackie, who naturally has a very athletic body and does P90X with her UFC loving husband (yes, they’re fit) likes adidas bras. This Techfit Bra is perfect for smaller cups, but it sounds like from reviews, larger cups might want to look elsewhere. This bra is available in a ton of fun colors!
This bra, not recommended by any friends, is included because of all the positive reviews on Amazon. Sounds like this bra is best for light to moderate workouts (as opposed to the Moving Comfort workhorses listed prior). The fabric is lightweight, but the support is there. Again, lots of colors to choose from with this bra.
Another bra I’m including due to lots of positive reviews. This is another lightweight bra, best for low to medium impact activities. Sounds like it’s a very comfortable bra, with a good amount of support.
If you’ve dedicated yourself to upping your fitness game this year, keep up the good work!
