These days most of us aren’t surprised to be paying around $50 for a garment. But fifty bucks is a lot of money, and where possible, it’s always nice to pay less for a quality piece of clothing, shoes, or accessories. Welcome to the 50 under $50 series. For the next five weeks we’ll be bringing you 10 garments from a specific category, each under $50. Last week we brought you 10 spring dresses we love. This week we’re featuring 10 tops perfect for spring weather (of varying degrees of course).
This pretty, airy polyester top should be a great staple for your spring wardrobe. It comes it 9 different colors/patterns, one of our favorites being the “green serene” color shown above. The one (glowing) review on the top says it runs a bit large, so if you prefer a tailored look, size down. Ships and returns free through Nordstrom.
Currently 30% off at Ann Taylor, the streamlined look and interesting texture of this top give it a high fashion vibe, but won’t break the bank. The black bands that run down the front are mirrored in the back. For a “springy” look, pair with a brighter pant or skirt and black flats or pumps.
A highly reviews short sleeve cardigan, perfect to throw over a tank to protect your shoulders, or just cover up in general. Available in 10 different colors/patterns. Sold by Nordstrom.
Abby Embroidered Top – $34.99
If this top doesn’t make you think spring you might need an injection of vitamin D. This top will need a camisole or tank underneath. But that’s ok. Spring temps are usually cool enough that an extra layer on your core isn’t a bad thing.
ModCloth Madrid Ya Look Top – $37.99
If bright corals and oranges make you happy, this top is for you. It has a lovely, feminine quality, and could be paired just as easily with jeans as worn over a tank dress. It would even look at home with wide legged trousers, or a skirt.
1,235 five star reviews on Nordstrom.com. Think this is a popular item for them? My curiosity is peaked. This cardigan is fleece, so it definitely won’t work on warm spring days, but on the cool ones it would probably be pretty darn comfortable. It’s like a high fashion Snuggie. Available in just a few color and pattern options… 26!
Linen is the perfect material to wear on a day that starts off cool but ends warm. This cute quarter sleeve tee available through Shopbob is made of a slubbed jersey linen. Looks cozy, but can certainly be cleaned up with some tucking in and metal jewelry. Another shirt that reviewers say runs large. Also available in black.
GAP Fitted Boyfriend Gingham Shirt – $49.95
Wear it mostly buttoned up, partially buttoned with a cami underneath, or Daisy Duke style, since mid-drifts seem to be all the rage this season. (I will not be participating in that particular trend.) This simple gingham top is offered in 4 different colors.
Lucky Brand Flower Diamond Top – $39.99
This unique top is calling my name. It looks like it would pair just as comfortably with chinos or linen slacks as it would with jeans. Sold by Amazon in XS-XL. Free shipping and returns on this one too.
Merona® Favorite Blouse – $22.99
Pretty poppies comprise the very springy graphic print on this blouse, but if you’re not into it there are a few other print options. And if print just isn’t your thing, how about a solid? Sometimes Target shirts can fit a little wonky, but the price is definitely right on this pretty springtime blouse!
Next week–10 springtime pants, skirts, and maybe even a short or two!
