What do you think of 2014 so far?

Perhaps you’ve seen other bloggers completing this list of what they’ve been up to thus far in 2014. It’s kind of fun to see where these first few weeks of the New Year have taken you–are you keeping up with your resolutions? Are you accomplishing what you’ve set out to do? Where’s your brain at these days? Here are Sarah and my answers (we split the list in two). Add your own in the comments section!

Making: Furniture. Well, not really, but in an effort to get organized I’ve purchased many shelving units
which I’ve been putting together.

Cooking: Not much at all. Subzero temps sap my energy. Hello grilled cheese.

Drinking: Lots of water–this cold weather is hell on my dry skin. Hydrate from the inside!

Reading: The YA series Divergent by Veronica Roth. Just finished the last book–really great, escapist reading.

Wanting: This clutch in magenta. Like I need another bag, especially after getting this monogrammed gem for Christmas.

Looking: For more DIY projects that are simple, useful and add beauty to my home.

Basset Hounds on

Playing: With my dogs–no walking for them in frigid temps so they require lots of toy throwing and belly rubs.

Deciding: On which of these new recipes to make this week: Chicken and Cabbage Tacos with Cilantro Cream or Warm Lentil and Potato Salad.

Wishing: For warmer weather!

Enjoying: Happy Socks. They make the best patterned socks, which I stocked up on after Christmas.

Waiting: To resume walking my dogs–seriously, it’s bumming us all out.

Trader Joe's CoconutCashews on

Liking: Trader Joe’s Coconut-coated Cashews. I think these are new–I just found them and they’re delicious if you like coconut.

Wondering: What this year will bring.

Loving: Comfortable clothing–oversized sweaters, slippers, cashmere socks. I’m in full hibernation mode.

Pondering: Whether it’s possible to disapparate to Hawaii if I concentrate really, really hard.

Considering: New post ideas for The Pretty Guinea Pig!

Watching: The Good Wife via Amazon Prime.

Hoping: For an early spring–it could happen, right?

Marvelling: These incredible photographs by Storm Chaser Mike Hollingshead. Nature can be so scary, dramatic, and beautiful at the same time.

Needing: A new sofa. I’m in love with this one.

Smelling: Pacifica’s Malibu Lemon Blossom. I love this scent, no matter what form it comes in.

Fleece-lined Leggings on

Wearing: Fleece lined leggings. WHY DID I NOT BUY THESE BEFORE???

Following: The 4th season of Downton Abbey.

Noticing: Grey sofas are really trendy right now (see “Needing”).

Knowing: That rice is currently over-boiling on my stove. Oops!

Thinking: About the Winter Olympics. I’m looking forward to seeing what team USA can do. And I have to say, I’m digging Shaun White’s shorter hair.

Feeling: Nervous about my first skate-skiing lesson this week. My balance, no bueno.

Shrimp-Asparagas-with-Siracha on

Admiring: How quickly my hubby can crank this meal out.

Sorting: Through old music, and loving the journey it’s taking me back on.

Buying: WAY too much food at Costco. How does that always happen? How does a bag of 25 Cuties sneak it’s way into my cart? Why do I have 3 pounds of turkey breast in my fridge?

Getting: Close to the time that I contracted the flu for the past two years, on or right after Superbowl weekend. I’m feeling good about this year though. Fortunately I can eat multiple Cuties a day for optimum vitamin C intake. Thanks Costco!

Bookmarking: Literally bookmarking Angle of Repose by Wallace Stegner. What an incredible writer. And speaking of books, I’m bookmarking When the heck is the third book in The Passage trilogy being published?

Disliking: Winter. I need to adjust my attitude.

Opening: A lot of protein bars. I’m part of a fitness challenge, and I’m in it to win it.

Giggling: At Community. I’m kind of obsessed with watching it in syndication right now. Cool. Cool, cool, cool.

Okay, your turn. Give us a couple of your answers in the comments!

Great lists Beth & Sarah! I wish we had those trader Joe’s coconut cashews in Australia

Thanks Christina! I’m waiting for a Trader Joe’s to open in my city (Boise, Idaho), so I haven’t been able to try those cashews yet either. They look delightful!
