Pretty Things: Spring Popovers

I just finished watching the Packer vs. 49’s game (sorry Pack!), where the temperature at the start of the game was a balmy 5 degrees. And here I am thinking about springtime popovers. I’m not insane!

Earlier I was flipping through the latest J. Crew catalog and they, among other retailers, are starting to push some of their spring lineup. For the majority of the country, the darling printed shorts in the new arrivals just won’t cut it right now, unless fleece lined leggings are involved, and even that is a stretch. But it’s fun to look, and dream of the warmer temperatures that are just a few months away (say it’s so Mr. Groundhog!).

If these new arrivals are a sign of things to come, spring will be full of bright colors and patterns with a softer edge.

A pretty shade of sea blue that you can keep toned down by pairing with grey or cream… or you can really make pop by pairing with bright yellow, orange, or red.

Pretty pattern and great tailoring on this shirt.

These take a touch of inspiration from a man’s shirt, but styled right they’re very feminine.

You can wear these popovers now, layered with warm and fuzzy things. And you can shout for joy the first day you can wear one without an extra layer on!
