Smartlash Review – The Final Verdict

Click here for my original post on reviewing SmartLash.

So it’s almost been two months since I started using SmartLash on my eyebrows and lashes, in hopes of lengthening, thickening, and filling out my lashes, but ESPECIALLY my brows.

Here are a few of the benefits clinical study participants claimed after using SmartLash:

  • Up to a 68% increase in the appearance of lash length!*
  • 100% saw an increase in the appearance of eyelash length, fullness and thickness after 30 days.
  • 100% indicated a superior performance of this product when compared to previously used eyelash enhancement products.
  • 100% said they feel like they need less mascara.
  • 100% would recommend SMARTLASH to a friend.

*Results based on a 60-day independent clinical study with product application twice a day.

I can’t say I’m completely on the SmartLash boat. But, I also didn’t follow the protocol down to the T. For optimal results, application has to happen twice a day, every day. I was pretty good at it most days, but there were several scattered in there where I only got one application in, and a few days I missed entirely.

Before & After

I just can’t say definitively that the product worked for me. There were times that I thought “Hey, are my brows just a little bit thicker?”. I do think a little bit of length was added to my lashes, but nothing that would encourage me to continue using this product. Perhaps with more time I would have seen more dramatic results, but I’m just not willing to spend $30 a month to find out.

If you’re curious about trying it, know that I didn’t suffer any ill side effects from this product. It seemed very safe to use. I’ll probably use the end of the tube I have, and then call it a day. I don’t dismiss the results that other women have had, but I think the changes are so small for most, that the money spent and effort put in may not be worth it.

Bonus Review: Talika Lipocils

Talika Lipocils was first mentioned in this Mystery Beauty Box post. My friend Amber graciously offered to try it out. First, the 411 on this product:

A lash treatment designed to lengthen, curl and darken lashes. Clinically proven to deliver results in 28 days with TALIKA’s exclusive Lipocils complex of 12 plant extracts combined with peptides, silk proteins and antioxidants to deliver total lash care. The drug-free formula naturally enhances lash growth, making them longer, stronger, darker and curlier with no side effects. Independent clinical studies show a 36% improvement in the appearance of lash length up to 4.4 mm, 50% improvement in lash color and 50% improvement in lash curl. The unique, dual applicator allows you to apply treatment from lash roots to lash tips. –

Unfortunately for Amber, this product was a bust for her. She thought perhaps she saw a bit more curl, but about three weeks into use she had a small clump of lashes fall out of her left lash line. That can not be correlated with the use of the product, it could just have naturally been time to shed some lashes. And one of the reviewers on Nordstrom states that the product helped her lashes STOP falling out.

Regardless, after that great lash shed of 2013, Amber chose to stop using Talika Lipocils Expert. From online reviews it sounds like it’s pretty hit or miss as far as effectiveness, so your money might be better spent elsewhere.

Have you used either of these, or another lash enhancing product? What are your thoughts, and what would you recommend?

Smart Lash has caused me severe vision problems. I did not connect my blurry vision and fogginess to Smart Lash for way too long. I am hoping the condition will reverse itself. Longer lashes are not worth it. read too late that many other people have had the same problem. Use with caution.
